This past April, I was about to go to New York for a student film program at NYU, and I had nothing. After months of on and off work, I was staring at a 12 page script I still found clichéd, corny, and tiresome. How is it possible that after all of that work could have produced a script this bad? I was likely too close to the script at the time and luckily, others in the program found more value in the story than I did.
Ultimately, we spent two weeks, shooting and editing the film, eventually creating a short film. While I still have my regrets about the script, I certainly don’t regret the experience, as I met a group of great people and learned more than I could have possibly imagined about what it means to produce a film.
